After a moment, Steven decided he was overthinking it.
Someone with Lennon’s personality would never do something so roundabout.
Besides, their relationship didn't seem close enough for that. Although everyone in their little group chat was shipping them as a couple, Steven wasn't convinced.
Everyone was just projecting. A man as cold and distant as their boss couldn't possibly be interested in someone, let alone in such a subtle way.
Steven went back to his work.
Lennon drove for quite a while, finally catching up to Naomi’s ride-share about a mile from Tyra University.
The driver had apparently forgotten to refuel, and the car was parked awkwardly on the side of the road.
Lennon slowed down, pulled up alongside them at a normal speed, and rolled down his window. “Is there a problem?”
The driver, surprised by the handsome man, glanced back at Naomi. “Is this your friend?”
Naomi was also shocked to see Lennon here and took a second to process it.
“Oh… yes…”
“Lennon, what are you doing here?”
Lennon casually mentioned he had some business to take care of at Tyra University.
“I can give you a ride.”
Before Naomi could answer, the driver jumped in. “Yes, miss, please go with your friend! I won’t charge you for the ride. I’m so sorry, I miscalculated my fuel. I really thought I’d make it. My apologies.”
In a daze, Naomi found herself being ushered into Lennon’s car. Lennon paid the driver for her fare, then started the car and headed toward the university.
As the world came back into focus, Naomi gave Lennon a surprised look. “Lennon, do you have some kind of partnership with Tyra University?”
He seemed to be coming to this area quite often lately…
“I have an idea in mind, but it’s not set in stone yet.”
