Once she was sure the coast was clear, Naomi got out of the car. After saying goodbye and telling Lennon to drive safely, she hurried away.
Lennon lifted his eyes, his gaze following her until she was out of sight, a hint of helplessness on his face.
He thought giving her a ride would be helpful, but now he wondered if, in her mind, it had only been a burden.
Otherwise, why would she have been so cautious and looked around before getting out?
Lennon started the car and drove away.
Naomi, unaware of Lennon’s inner monologue, returned to her dorm and told Patricia about her idea. When Patricia learned that her own brother would also be getting a pair of custom-designed cufflinks from Naomi, she feigned jealousy.
“Why don’t I get anything?”
She and Naomi were so close, yet she didn’t have a single handmade item from her.
“Then I’ll make you something for your birthday this year.”
Patricia’s face immediately lit up.
“I knew you were the best, Naomi! But wait, since when did you study design?”
Naomi said casually, “After your brother suggested suit accessories, I did some research online, and an idea just came to me, so I sketched it out.”
Patricia’s eyes widened.
“Seriously? You just looked at a few things and drew this? Are you some kind of genius, Naomi?”
Naomi couldn’t understand why Patricia always had to be so dramatic with her name, but it was a minor detail she didn’t bother correcting.
“It’s just a couple of cufflink designs. If you want a brooch or a bracelet, I can design one for you right now. We’d just need to source the materials to make it.”
Patricia shook her head. “No, no, that’s not what I mean. I’m asking how you got so good at drawing design sketches! You’ve never even studied design!”
Naomi wasn’t surprised by this. “Maybe being able to draw gives me an advantage?”
Seeing that Naomi was completely oblivious to her own talent, Patricia shook her head. “You are seriously the most amazing person I’ve ever met.”
