The post from the man himself sent the campus forum into another frenzy.
The old rumors about Naomi being a desperate clinger came roaring back.
“LOL I knew it. Naomi must have pulled some strings and used her family to pressure Zebulon, right? It’s so pathetic. I never believed it when she suddenly stopped chasing him after all these years. All that ‘leaving early, coming back late’ stuff was just her playing hard to get. See? Zebulon gave her some gifts as compensation, and she got greedy. Now she’s getting called out by the man himself. Serves her right.”
“If I were Naomi, I’d be too embarrassed to even show my face on campus!”
“I bet Naomi demanded those gifts. There were rumors that her family has connections with Zebulon’s. She probably used the adults to get her way.”
“Clingers are the worst. It was one thing when he was single, I could at least respect her for shooting her shot. But he has a girlfriend now! Isn’t it disgusting to keep harassing him?”
The forum was flooded with posts insulting Naomi, some of them particularly vicious.
They spoke as if Naomi had committed some unforgivable crime.
When Patricia saw the posts, Naomi was still at the studio and not yet back at the dorm. Patricia wanted to call her but was afraid of interrupting her work, so she created several alternate accounts and started fighting with people on the forum.
But her opponents were clearly organized. After just a few rebuttals, she was mass-reported and her accounts were banned.
Eventually, Patricia’s main account was locked, preventing her from posting at all.
She was so angry she wanted to smash her computer.
“These minions! Tiffany must have hired people to do this!”
Seeing how they all spouted the same narrative—that Naomi was a homewrecker—Patricia’s teeth clenched in fury. Naomi’s reputation was now in tatters.
Naomi had always been a private person. The only reason everyone at school knew about her pursuit of Zebulon was because a certain group of people loved to gossip about her.
What should have been a normal crush had been twisted by endless retelling.
Now, with Tiffany in the picture, Naomi’s name was mud.
