Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 146

Zebulon’s throat tightened. He smiled at Tiffany and beckoned her over. “Come here.”

Tiffany obediently walked over and snuggled into his arms.

Zebulon held her and looked at Carter. “See?”

Carter knew what he was doing. Zebulon was trying to prove his point.

He liked women who were obedient, sweet, and knew how to play the game.

Carter sighed, a mix of amusement and exasperation on his face.

If he weren’t Zebulon’s friend, he’d want to ask on Naomi’s behalf: Does Zebulon even like Naomi? If so, why was he so resistant when she pursued him? And if not, who was this whole act for?

Shaking his head, Carter got up and left.

He didn't want to be a pawn in Zebulon's romantic games. He’d made this mess; he could clean it up himself.

Seeing Carter leave, Zebulon pouted, suddenly losing interest in the girl in his arms.

“Go sit over there.”

He pulled a pack of expensive, custom-made cigarettes from his pocket. Just as he took one out, a faint, pleasant scent filled the air.

Tiffany had been about to act cute to get more of his attention, but then she saw him glance at her, his eyes cold and detached.

He looked at her as if she were an inanimate object, devoid of any emotion. The look sent a shiver down her spine.

In that moment, Tiffany finally caught a glimpse of the true face of these heirs from powerful families.

Everything could be faked.

Only their displeasure was ever real.

“I’m going to get something to eat. Let me know if you need anything, okay?” Tiffany forced herself to say in a deliberately sweet voice, then wisely got up and left.

Zebulon suddenly lost the desire to smoke.

At their age, their families didn’t allow them to smoke.
