Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 151

Naomi listened quietly to Zebulon's complaints, her face betraying no emotion.

"Are you finished?"

Zebulon paused, taken aback.

Her calm, detached tone made him feel a twinge of guilt.

But that feeling quickly gave way to righteous indignation.

"What's that supposed to mean? Naomi, you're the one who stood me up. Are you really going to give me attitude now?"

A faint, cold smile touched Naomi's lips, her voice laced with an obvious, icy distance. "Zebulon, who was your date tonight?"

"You said you were on your way to pick me up and told me not to bother you. But I waited for a long time, from when the storm started until it stopped, and you never showed. So, who exactly were you picking up?"

"I—"

Guilt flickered in Zebulon's eyes, but he remained stubborn. "Fine, I didn't come get you. But are you completely helpless? Couldn't you have just called a cab?"

Naomi hummed in agreement. "You're right. How thoughtless of me."

Her sarcastic tone infuriated Zebulon. "What's wrong with you? When did you become so petty? You were never like this before."

Naomi let out a dry laugh.

So, what Zebulon wanted was the old Naomi—the submissive girl they'd all treated like a clown, someone to be toyed with.

"I'm sorry. I was willing to compromise before because I liked you. I tried. You asked me to give you a chance, and I did. Zebulon, you're the one who gave up this time."

"I don't like you anymore, so I'm not willing to compromise anymore."

"If you have any decency, you'll explain this to our parents soon."

Without waiting for a reply, Naomi hung up the phone.

This time, she blocked every single one of them.

After doing all that, a wave of relief washed over her.

When she turned around, she saw Lennon standing a short distance behind her.
