"I'm blocked too."
In Zebulon's off-campus apartment, Carter looked at him with a helpless expression. "Dude, what did you do to piss off Naomi this time?"
"You two just made up. Do you really have to make things miserable for everyone?"
Carter was genuinely getting annoyed.
It was Zebulon's fault in the first place for being a bully. All he had to do was apologize, it's not like anyone would think less of him for it.
Even if they all used to joke about Naomi being Zebulon's lapdog, they hadn't forgotten that she grew up in the same neighborhood as them.
There was no need to make things so hostile.
They'd gone to great lengths to mediate and get the two back on speaking terms, and now this happens.
And Carter and the others were caught in the crossfire, which was completely unfair.
If word of this got back to their parents, it would look like their whole group was ganging up on a young woman.
Everyone knew Zebulon's temper. After Carter finished speaking, Jonathan shot a worried glance at Zebulon, afraid a fight was about to break out among the friends.
But to his surprise, Zebulon just sat there silently, as if accepting Carter's accusations.
Jonathan's eyes widened. "Zebulon, are you okay?"
Had this setback actually caused a personality change?
This wasn't like Zebulon at all.
"I'm fine."
Zebulon glanced at his phone. He had tried texting Naomi from a different number, but she hadn't replied. It was clear she was done with him for good.
"About today…"
Zebulon rubbed his temples. Deep down, he knew he was in the wrong, but he just couldn't bring himself to say it.
"Zebulon, it's not that we don't want to help you this time, but this whole situation has become really uncomfortable."
