Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 32

A wave of irritation washed over Zebulon.

But seeing Tiffany on the verge of tears, he softened his tone, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Just eat. The food here is good. You’ll like it.”

Tiffany nodded and cut into her steak. The flavor was indeed excellent, and she immediately broke into a sweet smile. “It’s really good. You have great taste, Zebulon.”

She popped another piece in her mouth, then looked up and noticed Zebulon hadn't touched his food. “Aren’t you going to eat, Zebulon?” she asked, puzzled.

Zebulon paused.

He looked down at his steak, his expression a little unnatural.

Whenever he came to places like this with Naomi, she would always be busy taking care of everything for him.

His silverware had to be personally cleaned and sanitized before being placed on the table. His steak had to be cut into neat, perfect pieces. And since he hated kale, there could never be any in his side salad.

But today, the silverware hadn’t been re-washed. It was clean enough to reflect light, but it just felt wrong to Zebulon.

The steak was uncut, and the fragrant aroma now seemed unappetizing.

And in the salad, the kale stood out conspicuously.

When Naomi had been silently doing all this for him, he never thought it was indispensable. But after just a few times without her, Zebulon was already starting to feel uncomfortable.

He abruptly stood up, pocketed his phone from the table, and tossed a “I’m going to the restroom” over his shoulder before walking away.

Tiffany sat alone at the table, at a loss for what to do.

Just as she was starting to feel on edge, Colin approached.

He didn’t take Zebulon’s seat but pulled up another chair. Glancing at the untouched steak, he raised an eyebrow at Tiffany. “Why haven’t you cut Zebulon’s steak for him?”

Tiffany blinked. “Huh?”
