Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 65

As Naomi and Patricia found seats off to the side, a few people huddled around Zebulon, whispering.

Zebulon had noticed her too. Naomi's skin was normally so fair it almost glowed, so it was hard to miss that she was a shade darker today.

He’d been bored hanging out with his friends at a bar the night before, but seeing Naomi looking so worn out—presumably over him—gave him a sudden jolt of energy.

“Hmph.”

Zebulon lifted his chin arrogantly and deliberately kissed Tiffany on the cheek in front of everyone.

The lecture hall erupted in a chorus of oohs and aahs.

Naomi had felt a wave of sleepiness the moment she sat down. She was about to rest her head on the desk when the sudden commotion startled her.

“What’s going on?”

Patricia immediately cupped Naomi’s head and turned it away.

“Just some clowns desperate for attention. Don’t look.”

Naomi instantly understood and her expression cooled. She put her head back down and quickly fell asleep.

Zebulon, meanwhile, was whispering sweet nothings to Tiffany, periodically glancing over at Naomi. He was annoyed to see that she had her back to them, head down on the desk, completely ignoring the show.

He started to get angry. He hated being the center of attention, but he'd made a special effort today just to make Naomi jealous. How dare she not even watch?
