She had intended to just stand behind Lennon’s chair until he was finished, but when he saw her approaching, he naturally shifted to make space. Without really thinking, Naomi found herself sitting down next to him.
A flicker of amusement touched Lennon’s lips before he quickly suppressed it.
As he pointed out a few details that were indeed problematic, Naomi leaned closer, making corrections on the fly as he spoke.
The soft strands of her hair brushed against his chin, and Lennon’s words trailed off.
He glanced down and saw the fluffy top of her head.
She was always so unassuming, never dyeing her hair flashy colors. It was a classic, beautiful black, and because she took such good care of it, it was glossy and carried a faint, clean scent.
From his angle, he could also see the soft curve of her chin.
It was strange. Naomi’s features were delicate and beautiful, but she had a touch of baby fat on her chin. It wasn’t unattractive; in fact, it softened her sharp features, making her look incredibly gentle and sweet.
Lennon suddenly recalled how Patricia seemed to want to stick to Naomi’s side at all times.
He understood why now. Naomi was like catnip—she seemed simple and unassuming on the surface but was utterly captivating.
“Is this better?”
Naomi was so absorbed in her work that she hadn’t noticed him staring. When she didn’t get a response after making a change, she looked up to ask again.
But she moved too quickly. Lennon, caught off guard, didn’t have time to pull back, and her head bumped squarely against his chin.
Naomi’s face paled, and she instinctively reached up to touch his chin. “Are you okay?”
Lennon leaned away slightly.
Only then did Naomi realize how forward her action was. She shot up from her seat. “I’m so sorry…”
She wasn’t trying to be fresh; it was just a reflex to check if he was hurt.
“I’m fine.”
Seeing how anxious she looked, Lennon rubbed his chin and said softly, “Your changes are good. I’m going to use the restroom.”
He noticed the genuine concern in her eyes, which added a touch of warmth to his own. “Don’t worry.”
