Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 75

The unspoken message was clear: If not, please don’t interrupt my meal.

Zebulon’s face was as black as thunder.

He had thought Naomi had finally come to her senses, but instead, it seemed she had found someone else just to spite him.

He was certain this was all an act. After all, Naomi was crazy about him. How could she possibly fall for someone else in such a short time?

And bring them to a romantic restaurant, no less.

The realization actually made Zebulon feel a little pleased. The more she did things like this, the more it proved she wasn't over him.

But the fact that she would rather go to these lengths than apologize and beg him to take her back infuriated him.

“You’re sitting with us.”

Zebulon reached for Naomi’s hand, but she pulled back, dodging his grasp.

She was good-natured, otherwise she never would have put up with him for four years before finally reaching her breaking point. But that didn't mean she would tolerate these two repeatedly causing trouble for her.

Naomi was stubborn that way. Once she had decided they were over, there was no reason to remain entangled.

“How many times do I have to say it? We have nothing to do with each other anymore. What exactly are you doing right now?”

Her words made Zebulon freeze.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

Naomi frowned at him. “I should be asking you that. What do you mean by this?”

He was the one who said he was tired of her. Now that she was no longer chasing after him, he was unhappy. What did he take her for?

“Naomi…” A flicker of panic entered Zebulon's heart. She was being too calm. The thought crossed his mind that she might actually be serious this time—that she really intended to cut ties with him for good.

Zebulon couldn’t bear to think about that outcome; it would shatter his confidence.
