Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 96

Naomi suddenly thought about Lennon's status. His early days with the Spencer family probably weren't very pleasant either.

She felt a sense of kinship with him, a feeling of shared misery.

They were both their parents' children, yet neither of them seemed happy at home.

Naomi grabbed a bottle of beer.

"You're driving, so you can't drink. I'll have some."

With a stomach full of pent-up frustrations, Naomi, who normally wouldn't dare drink much, finished the entire bottle. Perhaps it was because she trusted Lennon completely. A rosy flush spread across her cheeks.

"Alright, that's enough."

When he saw her reaching for another, Lennon quickly stopped her.

Naomi pouted. "Why won't you let me drink...? I'm not happy..."

"I just want to be free. I want to do what I want, when I want. Why is such a simple wish so hard to achieve?"

Lennon pressed his lips together, watching her.

He gently helped her out of the restaurant and settled her carefully in the passenger seat.

Naomi fell into a deep sleep. Lennon gazed at her sleeping face for a long while without a sound. She shifted into a more comfortable position and continued to sleep soundly.

The corners of Lennon's lips curved into what might have been a smile before he walked around to the driver's side and got in.

When they arrived at the women's dormitory, Lennon called Patricia.

Hearing that Naomi was drunk, Patricia rushed downstairs to help.

"Drunk from the team event? Must have been a lot of fun, huh?"

Patricia didn't know Naomi had left the event early, and Lennon didn't elaborate. He just nodded, told Patricia to get her upstairs safely, and returned to his car.

He didn't leave right away, waiting until he saw Patricia help Naomi into the building before starting the engine.
