You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 958

Kids always know how to read a room. When her dad glared at her, the little girl chewed on her finger for a few seconds, then let out a loud wail.

Oliver just stared at her in disbelief.

That night, Mr. Padilla sat down with Patricia for a serious talk.

“With the end of the year coming up, I’ll probably be traveling a lot more for work,” he said.

Patricia, sitting at her vanity and rubbing in her night cream, paused and looked at him through the mirror. “Then I’m going too.”

No way was she letting him escape alone.

Married life with a kid meant one thing, both sides were terrified the other would run for it. If he left, she’d be the one left holding the bag.

Mr. Padilla frowned. “If you’re not at home either, what about our daughter?”

“We’ve got the nanny,” Patricia replied.

“And how many people do we have taking care of just one little girl?”

“Are you really okay leaving her? Can you honestly relax?” Mr. Padilla pressed.

Patricia fell silent. After a moment, she finally admitted, “I don’t want to leave her, but lately… she’s been driving me a little crazy.”

Mr. Padilla closed his eyes, clearly frustrated. After a long pause, he muttered, “Same here.”

The room went quiet, the only thing lingering was the soft scent of camellia from Patricia’s skincare.

Finally, Mr. Padilla broke the silence, his voice a bit shaky. “She’s not going to turn out rebellious like Sara, is she?”

Patricia didn’t answer. Maybe… Possibly… Who could say for sure?

But right now, their little girl really was a clever little rascal.

“What if she does?” he asked.

Oliver didn’t even want to imagine it.

That would be a total nightmare.

When their daughter hit eleven months, she started pulling herself up to stand. That’s when things really got interesting.

She wanted to walk, but she was scared. She only felt safe if her dad was the one holding her hands. Anyone else just wouldn’t do.
