She never imagined she'd actually get pregnant.
"It shouldn't be too hot now," Tyson said gently, carefully bringing a spoonful of chicken broth to her lips.
After she finished the small bowl of soup, Celia nestled into Tyson's arms, her hand resting over her stomach.
"Ty, do you want a boy or a girl?" she asked softly.
"Either is wonderful." Tyson smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her cheek. "Boy or girl, this baby will be our little miracle."
"By the way, have you told your mom yet? She's always wanted a grandchild. If she finds out, she's going to be over the moon."
Tyson hesitated, his expression clouding for a moment. "Let's not tell her yet."
Simone had already returned to The Goodwin Estate and had no idea Celia was pregnant.
"Why not?" Celia immediately sat up, giving him a searching look. "Is it that you don't want your mom to know I'm pregnant, or… you don't want her to know the baby is yours?"
Tyson pressed his fingers to his forehead, as if fighting a headache. "Mom's health has never been great. She never approved of us being together in the first place. If she knew you were having my child, I'm not sure she could handle the shock."
"But she'll have to accept it sooner or later! What are we going to do—keep hiding after the baby is born, too?"
"Celia, we agreed on this, remember?" Tyson's brows drew together. "Back then, you wanted Nona to have the baby for us, and we planned to quietly claim the child as ours. Nothing's changed."
"But… I'm pregnant now," she protested weakly.
"Don't worry, I checked with the doctor. You're healthy enough to fly."
"Oh. That's… good." Celia forced a strained smile. "But the Thornes are unpredictable. I'm not sure how smooth things will go."
"We have to try." Tyson smiled, reaching up to tuck her hair behind her ear. "I believe in you, Celia. I know you can help me with this."
Celia mumbled a vague reply, afraid to refuse him for fear he'd see through her.
At this point, all she could do was wait until they reached the capital and hope for a way out. After all, she was pregnant—no matter how angry Tyson might be if he learned the truth, he'd at least have to consider the baby growing inside her.
