A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 111

"New York, huh! I just got here for a work trip, and guess who I ran into at a fondue place? Her—and she was with a really pretty woman."

A woman?

A sly smile tugged at the corner of Tyson's mouth, and his mood instantly lightened.

"Ty, I heard you guys broke up. Is that true? She even claimed I'd mistaken her for someone else just now."

"We didn't break up. Don't listen to their nonsense."

With that, Tyson tossed the orange peels into the trash and ended the call without a second thought.

He then handed the already peeled orange to Celia.

But Celia didn't take it. She just stared at him, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "So Miss Thorne went to New York, huh? Well, isn't that convenient—since you'll be in New York in a few days, you two can meet up."

She put on an exaggerated look of sudden realization. "See, I told you she probably went to New York to find that Prodigy Painter, but you just wouldn't believe me!"

Tyson's knuckles went white as he gripped the orange, its fresh scent bursting between his fingers.

He tossed the ruined orange into the trash too, took out a wet wipe, and slowly cleaned his hands.

"Nona's with a woman right now," he said. "There's no way she's seeing another guy. I'm the only one in her heart."

"Right, of course." Celia let out a bitter laugh. "She's got only you in her heart, and you've got only her in yours. So what am I? What about the child I'm carrying?"

"I won't abandon you or the baby." Tyson looked at her with what could almost pass for tenderness. Anyone who saw him at that moment might think he was a devoted man making promises to the woman he loved.

Wait—that was Elvis's car, wasn't it?

Just as the thought crossed her mind, the car door opened and Elvis stepped out.

"Isn't that Mr. Rogers?" Veronica whispered with a teasing smile. "Did he come to pick you up?"

Winona hadn't expected Elvis to show.

She'd chatted with him on WhatsApp earlier that evening as she was leaving the office, mentioning she'd be having fondue with Veronica. She'd assumed he was just making conversation when he asked which restaurant they were going to.

She never imagined he'd actually show up.
