A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 144

"Elvis?" She nudged his arm gently. "What's up with you?"

Finally, Elvis pulled his gaze away and looked at her, letting out a quiet sigh.

"It's nothing, really. I was just thinking… The kids just now called you ‘big sis' but called me ‘uncle.'"

Winona blinked, then couldn't help but twitch her lips in amusement.

She hadn't expected that was what Elvis had on his mind.

"Elvis." Winona shook her head, half exasperated, half amused. "I never realized how childish you can be sometimes."

Instead of looking embarrassed, Elvis just grinned. "That's fine. If I'm childish, at least it's only with you."

"Then you'd better behave yourself," Winona teased, her lips curving into a mischievous smile. "Or I'll let the world know just how childish you really are."

With that, she turned and headed for the arcade entrance.

Elvis followed close behind, a helpless smile on his face. "As if I'd dare cross you."

"You never know."

"So, Winona, where do you want to go next?"

"It's still early. How about we watch that movie again? The one we saw last time?"

"Sure."

Neither of them realized that just moments ago, while they'd been standing in front of the claw machine, someone in the arcade had secretly snapped a photo of them.

The photographer didn't know who they were—just thought they looked striking together, so they snapped a quick pic and sent it to a friend.

"Ran into the cutest couple at the arcade today—both of them are seriously good-looking! I wanted to ask for a photo with them but chickened out."

The picture was a little blurry and the angle less than ideal, but it was obvious—their looks were a perfect match.

That friend promptly forwarded the photo to someone else, and soon enough, it was making the rounds.

Eventually, it landed in Tyson's inbox.

Yet… Tyson couldn't ignore how happy she looked in that photo. Her smile was radiant.

Suddenly, his phone rang.

He answered, and Celia's playful voice drifted through the line.

"Ty, when are you coming to the hospital to keep me company?"

The doctor had said it would be best for Celia to stay a few more days, so she was still there.

"You haven't visited all day. What's been keeping you so busy?" Celia sounded just a little pouty.

Tyson's fingers tightened around the phone before he replied, "I had a video conference today. Just finished. I'll be over to see you soon."

"Hurry up, okay? I'm bored all by myself." Celia's voice softened, then she let out a little laugh. "And the baby misses his daddy, too."

Tyson managed a chuckle. "The baby's not even out yet, and he already misses me?"
