A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 153

Tyson had never thought much of Jude.

So what if he was born into one of the city's four great dynasties—the Quincy family? At the end of the day, Jude was just another spoiled rich kid who wasted his days in idle luxury.

Everyone knew the real heirs to the Quincy fortune would be Jude's older siblings. As for Jude? He'd probably coast through life, living off the family name.

Of course, Tyson kept all this to himself. Outwardly, he managed a polite smile. "You're overthinking it, Mr. Quincy. I just have some important business to discuss with Mr. Jackson."

"If it's important, you can tell me instead," Jude replied, suddenly flashing a sly, almost unsettling grin. "Actually, you don't even have to tell me. I can guess…"

Tyson's brow tightened in a scowl.

"Who would've thought?" Jude continued, a note of mock surprise in his voice. "Turns out, for the past five years, Miss Thorne was your girlfriend."

He'd heard Celia complain about Tyson having a girlfriend back when they were seeing each other, but he'd shrugged it off as gossip, never caring to learn who it was.

It wasn't until yesterday, after his brother mentioned Tyson wanted to meet with the Quincys, that Jude bothered to have someone dig up some background on Tyson. The results had been eye-opening.

He'd stared at the photos in disbelief, but there was no mistake: Tyson's girlfriend was Winona Thorne.

"What a shame," Jude went on, as if he hadn't noticed the storm brewing on Tyson's face. His tone dripped with schadenfreude. "Now she's your ex."

Tyson took a sharp breath, fists clenching at his sides. "Mr. Quincy, can we please drop this subject?"

"Why should we? Isn't the whole reason you want to meet my brother because your girlfriend got stolen by Elvis Rogers, and now you're looking to team up with my family to get even?"

He'd always despised being compared unfavorably to his brother. And Tyson, clearly, was no exception.

Before Tyson could retort, Jude cut him off. "I'm willing to work with you."

The timing was perfect. Jude wanted Winona for himself—and the Quincys had a long-standing grudge against the Rogers family. If they could bring Elvis down, or even just deal Rogers Corporation a serious blow, Jude would finally have the chance to prove to everyone—once and for all—that he was every bit his brother's equal.

Tyson was caught off guard by Jude's sudden offer. If this had been Mr. Jackson, he would've been thrilled—but Jude?

Still, on reflection, Jude was a Quincy, the chairman's own son. And with Mr. Jackson refusing to show his face today, who knew when he'd get another chance to meet him?

Maybe, for now, it was worth seeing what Jude had to say.
