A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 174

He still felt a trace of guilt, so he sent another message: "Alright, just tell me what kind of compensation you want."

This time, Celia replied almost immediately: "I haven't decided yet. Can I let you know once I figure it out?"

Jude made a noise of annoyance. "Fine, take your time."

He put his phone away and turned his gaze toward the main entrance of the venue.

The symposium must be starting now, he thought.

Inside, the room was packed with representatives from renowned international corporations, business moguls, and prominent experts from all over the world.

His older brother was among them.

Jude had tried hinting to his father that he could represent Quincy Corporation at the symposium, too.

His father only sneered, eyes full of disdain.

As always, to his father, he could never measure up to his brother and sister.

The major business symposium would last for three days in total.

The first day wrapped up smoothly at four in the afternoon. A few foreign businesspeople approached Elvis to strike up a conversation. Winona, feeling a bit bored, decided to slip out of the hall.

She could sense Tyson's eyes following her every move, but at the moment, he was still deep in conversation with an international executive he might end up partnering with, so he couldn't chase after her.

As she stepped outside, Winona noticed a tall young man out front, finishing up a phone call.

She paid him little mind at first, only casting a quick glance. But just then, the man ended his call, turned around, and their eyes met.

Winona recognized him instantly.

Jackson Quincy, the eldest son of Quincy Corporation.

Winona suppressed a sigh and resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

She should have known better than to think about Jude—speak of the devil.

Just her luck, here he was.

Jackson shot Jude a cool glance. "What are you doing out here?"

Jude grinned slyly. "I know I'm not allowed in the symposium, but no one said I couldn't stand by the door, right? Or are you going to police that too, big brother?"

"If you have time to wander around out here, maybe you should try doing something useful for a change," Jackson said, his tone edged with reprimand.

"Oh? And chatting up Miss Thorne is your idea of being productive?" Jude shot back, voice laced with sarcasm.

"Watch your mouth!" Jackson snapped, his voice sharp.

Jude had long been resentful of his brother's authority. Now, being scolded in front of Winona only made him bristle more, and he squared his shoulders, ready to argue.
