A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 196

The girl froze for a moment, then broke into a teary smile and started thanking Winona over and over, almost giddily.

"It's nothing, really. Anyone in my place would have done the same." Winona gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "I just can't stand guys like that harassing women."

The Winona of today gradually overlapped in his mind with the Winona he remembered from years ago.

All these years later, she was still the same radiant Nona—like a little sun, warm and bright.

For some reason, his thoughts drifted back to Celia in high school. She'd always had a pack of girls following her around, and together they bullied one of their classmates mercilessly. Their tactics were endless and cruel, pushing that poor girl to the brink of despair. Eventually, she spiraled into severe depression and even contemplated suicide.

The girl's family was ordinary, nothing special, but she was beautiful and exceptionally bright. Before Celia targeted her, she'd always ranked first in the entire grade—teachers used to say she was destined for a top university, with a future full of promise.

But after Celia's relentless bullying, her grades plummeted. She was barely present, lost in her own world.

One day, she swallowed most of a bottle of sleeping pills. Luckily, her family found her in time and rushed her to the hospital, where she was saved.

After that, she never set foot in school again.

A few students, disgusted by Celia's behavior, happened to have recorded a video of Celia cornering the girl in the bathroom with her entourage. They posted the video online, and it sparked a huge scandal.

Celia didn't feel the slightest remorse. But when she saw the torrent of hate directed at her, she panicked and tearfully begged Tyson to fix things for her.

So Tyson had to pull strings, spend money, and smooth things over.

Looking back now, Winona and Celia couldn't have been more different.

But the two guards ignored him, standing firm like twin walls, blocking any way forward.

Just then, two other guests approached, heading upstairs. The guards immediately stepped aside for them, but kept a wary eye on Tyson, making sure he didn't follow.

The two guests glanced curiously at Tyson as they passed.

Now he'd managed to embarrass himself in front of foreigners, too. Tyson shot the guards a murderous glare and stalked off.

In the lounge, Winona watched Sue, who sat in silence. Winona wanted to comfort her, but had no idea what to say.

After a while, Sue spoke quietly, "Winona, do you think... if I regret it now, is it too late?"
