A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 49

"Secretary Thorne, come to my office for a moment."

Winona frowned and looked up at him.

He hadn't seen Winona in days, and now, gazing at her beautiful face, Tyson felt his heart skip a beat.

"Is there something you need, Mr. Goodwin?"

Tyson's tone was low. "Don't make a scene. There are plenty of people around—you want to be the subject of everyone's office gossip?"

Winona said nothing.

If he would just keep his distance, things like this wouldn't happen.

Still, she didn't want to make a spectacle in front of the other executives, so she stood up and followed him into his office.

No sooner had the door closed than Tyson reached for her hand.

Winona pulled away without hesitation, her voice frigid. "Mr. Goodwin, please respect yourself."

"Nona, it's been days now. Are you really still sulking?" Tyson looked at her, clearly displeased.

He'd been waiting all week for Winona to reach out and make up with him.

But she never did.

She'd made such a fuss—jealous and ready to press charges against Celia—and now she was acting all high and mighty. It was infuriating.

"If you have something work-related for me, say it," Winona said coolly. "If not, I'll be leaving."

She turned for the door, but Tyson suddenly spoke. "I tried to have someone bail Celia out, but it didn't work. Nona, what happened?"

Winona's hand froze on the doorknob.

Technically, Mr. Ford would have been capable of this too, but if he'd intervened, he would've told her.

But if he hadn't… then could it really have been Elvis?

Was he doing this to stand up for her?

Tyson saw the distant look in her eyes, the way she'd fallen silent and drifted off in thought, and a sudden wave of anger surged inside him. Without warning, he grabbed her wrist and pinned her against the wall.

"Tyson, what are you doing? This is the office!"

"Nona, what were you just thinking about?" Tyson's eyes burned with jealousy, as if he was accusing her of letting her mind stray. "Were you just now, right in front of me, thinking about another man?"

Winona let out a cold laugh. "Tyson, don't forget—we're not together anymore. Whoever I think about, whenever I want, has nothing to do with you."

"Not together?" Tyson scoffed. "That means nothing to me, Nona. So stop trying to threaten me with talk of breaking up."
