"You must be really bored to be playing that," Tanya remarked. "That game is ancient."

"It's simple. Doesn't require any brainpower," Starla replied. Complicated games just gave her a headache; this was perfect for passing the time.

Tanya had held her tongue since arriving, but she couldn't anymore.

"So, about Fairfax ending up in the hospital today... did you really feed him poison?"

She'd heard about the incident from Caden, and she was still reeling. She couldn't believe Starla would resort to poison just to get a divorce.

"I fed it to him personally," Starla said calmly. "But I didn't put the poison in the broth."

Tanya stared at her, confused.

The entire Yelchin family was deaf. If they wanted Starla gone so badly, they should have been talking to Fairfax, not targeting her. It was a classic case of picking on the weakest person.

"I bet they're absolutely losing their minds right now," Tanya said with a grin.

After Faraday's death, Fairfax was their only viable heir. The thought of him being poisoned would be enough to make them want to skin Starla alive.

"Right now, they think I'm in a jail cell, plotting how to make my life a living hell. Brinley even texted me just now," Starla added, "to let me know Fairfax isn't getting me out. He wants me to suffer and learn my lesson."

"That bastard!" Tanya exploded. "He wants you to suffer? That's even more reason to leave him. What is wrong with him? After everything his family has put you through, he thinks you're the one who needs a lesson? Is he trying to make you surrender?" She shook her head in disgust. "I'm seriously starting to question your judgment. How did you ever fall for a guy like that?"
