A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 266

But no matter how furious she became, Vivian refused to budge. When they threatened to fire her, she calmly insisted that her termination had to come directly from her supervisor, along with the appropriate severance package.

Darleen was about to explode. For a moment, she thought she was seeing things—Vivian had the same rebellious streak as Starla.

In the end, fuming, she was forced to wait until six in the evening.

Fairfax finally emerged from the conference room after hours of meetings, his face etched with exhaustion.

Darleen rushed forward, but when Fairfax saw her and Xenia, his expression darkened even further.

"What are you two doing here?" he asked, his voice laced with irritation. Lately, the sight of any Yelchin family member, even his own mother and sister, grated on his nerves.

"Never mind that," Darleen said dismissively. "First, you need to fire this woman!"

She pointed an accusing finger at Vivian, still incensed by the secretary's attitude and remarks.

Gabriel, Fairfax's primary assistant, heard this and shot Vivian a look that screamed, “What did you do?”

Vivian pushed her black-framed glasses up the bridge of her nose. "If you believe I should be fired for not flattering you, then the company owes me compensation for wrongful termination."

"Vivian, shut up!" Gabriel hissed.

Now was not the time. It was one thing to be tenacious at work, but why challenge the CEO's mother?

Gabriel had hired Vivian precisely for that spirited energy; she tackled every task with vigor. But that energy had to be channeled correctly.

He turned to Darleen with an apologetic smile. "Ma'am, Vivian's always been a bit blunt. Please don't take it to heart."

Darleen just snorted. It wasn't just her; Xenia was furious too.

Fairfax glanced at Vivian but said nothing, turning and walking into his office.

Darleen shot Vivian one last glare before following him inside. Xenia did the same, her eyes burning with malice as she passed the secretary.

"Didn't you already call the police?" he retorted coolly. "Did I stop you?"

His calm demeanor sent a chill through both Darleen and Xenia.

Just as Darleen was about to speak, a knock came at the door.

"Sir, it's me," Gabriel called from outside.

"Come in," Fairfax said, his voice cold.

Gabriel entered and walked to the desk, placing the file in front of Fairfax. "Sir, this… this is from Mrs. Yelchin."

He didn't need to specify what it was. The moment they saw the file, Fairfax, Darleen, and Xenia all knew it was the divorce agreement.

As the file lay on the desk, the words "Divorce Agreement" were starkly visible. They had guessed right.
