Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 41

Janina couldn't be bothered to explain. She just gave a cool, detached smile.

"You didn't answer my calls or texts. I couldn't find you, so I had to come wait for you at the company. Don't worry, this is the last time I'll come here."

She picked up a manila envelope, pulled out the divorce papers, and held them out.

"You promised to sign yesterday. You haven't forgotten, have you?"

At her words, Wayne quietly dismissed the receptionist and took a few steps back himself.

Julius gave the divorce papers a cursory glance without taking them and let out a cold laugh.

"Janina, Yvonne was in the wrong yesterday, but she's sick. You shouldn't hold it against her. If you're trying to use divorce to threaten me, I suggest you get that idea out of your head right now."

Janina was stunned. She couldn't even begin to comprehend his train of thought.

It was as if everything she did revolved around him.

Then again, she couldn't blame him for thinking that way. She really had been that hopelessly in love before.

Realizing explanations were useless, Janina took out her phone and played the recording she'd made when leaving the hospital yesterday.

"Julius, once this is all dealt with, let's get a divorce. No need for any agreement, we'll just take our marriage certificate straight to city hall and get it done. Let's sign the papers first."

"I'll bring them to you tomorrow."

The conversation between her and Julius played clearly from the phone's speaker.

Hearing the recording, seeing Janina's unprecedentedly indifferent smile and the lack of any affection in her eyes, Julius's brow furrowed. A strange panic began to stir in his heart.

He remembered now. He thought he might have said something like that yesterday.

But at the time, he was still reeling from the video Janina had released and hadn't been paying attention to what she was saying at all.

A bitter laugh escaped him. Janina had been chasing him since middle school. She'd schemed and plotted just to marry him, always bending to his will, never saying no to him.
