Julius just gave a faint grunt in response. Then he glanced at the bag and frowned slightly. "It's dirty, just throw it out."
"Aren't you going to explain?" Janina demanded, looking at his nonchalant expression.
Julius's handsome brow furrowed, clearly displeased with her tone.
He knew Janina was angry, so he explained with a sliver of patience.
"Yvonne wasn't feeling well last night, so I stayed to make sure she was okay. Nothing happened between us. Yvonne is a simple person, not dirty-minded like you." He then added, "I slept on the sofa."
Janina couldn't believe it. Julius was calling her dirty-minded.
They had a child on the way together, and he had the audacity to claim they were innocent.
Where was his shame?
Julius only mentioned sleeping on the sofa to defend Yvonne's honor, afraid Janina would misunderstand her.
After all, in Julius's eyes, Yvonne was a pure, innocent saint.
He wouldn't allow anyone to slander or criticize her.
"Are you a doctor? If she's not feeling well, she can go to the hospital! Instead, she has a married man stay over. What's her game? Julius, are you an idiot? Have you two no shame? Holding hands in public—do you think I'm dead?" Janina's emotions surged, and she practically screamed the words at him.
Julius was stunned by her outburst, seemingly surprised by this side of her.
In his presence, Janina had always been gentle and considerate. She never lost her temper with him.
This sharp, accusing side of her? He'd never seen it.
"What are you talking about? Yvonne was weak and unsteady on her feet. I was just helping her. Is it necessary to make such a big deal out of it?"
Julius loosened his tie in frustration. Perhaps Janina had hit a nerve; they had, in fact, held hands.
Yvonne had said she felt unsteady and that holding his hand would help her walk. So he'd held her hand.
He was just trying to be helpful, but in Janina's eyes, it was something more.
It was ridiculous.
