Aiden Finnegan the Alchemist in Delcord novel Chapter 127

"In ancient times, almost all traditional medicine practitioners in Wardom could achieve divination. However, nowadays, fewer and fewer people practice divination. That's why scientific instruments have emerged. The accuracy of these instruments has led more doctors to rely on them. Consequently, fewer people learn divination, and over time, it has become a rare skill," Aiden explained to Angelina, then sighed before continuing, "It was originally a unique skill of traditional medicine, but it has now turned into a revered ability. Unfortunately, this is the tragedy of traditional medicine."

Reece nodded in agreement. "The influx of modern medicine should have been a good thing. The combination of traditional and modern medicine would have advanced medical science. However, it's unexpected that traditional medicine has declined."

"The presence of modern medicine should have been to compensate for the shortcomings of traditional medicine. But once we had convenient methods, we became dependent and abandoned some valuable practices," Aiden said with a heavy tone.

Angelina finally understood their conversation at this point and nodded.

In this world, many situations paralleled the state of traditional and modern medicine. With the reliance on scientific instruments, certain practices stopped progressing, leading to abandonment. There were even instances where things had reached a point where, without the help of science, they could no longer be pursued.

The three of them fell silent.

After a while, Helena assisted the aristocrat out of the restroom and brought her to the consultation table.

The aristocrat's face was slightly flushed as she apologized, "Sorry, Doctor."

"No problem. Ninety percent of the body's detoxification relies on the intestines. We're treating an illness; there's nothing to be embarrassed about. Also, do you still have a headache?" Aiden asked with a smile.

Upon hearing this, the aristocrat exclaimed in surprise, "My headache is gone! Could it be related to my condition?"

Aiden nodded in response. "Our body is like a machine. When a part undergoes a pathological change, it actually gives us a signal. Sometimes, we ignore it, or it's not easily noticeable. The purpose of doctors is to detect these signals and then treat the affected areas. Your kidneys have reached a critical stage, and that sends signals to the brain, causing the headache. The night sweats you experienced before were also a warning."

Gratefully, the aristocrat said, "Thank you, Doctor. I accidentally ended up here today but didn't expect you to cure my longstanding ailment."

Aiden lowered his head to write a prescription, handed it to Helena, and said, "Prepare three sets of medicine."

"After you return, take the first dose on the first day, the second on the third day, and the third on the seventh day. If you feel any discomfort on the eighth day, you can come for a follow-up, but it's unlikely." Aiden smiled at the aristocrat.

She nodded and smiled. "I trust you, Doctor. By the way, I haven't asked for your name."

"Aiden Finnegan," Aiden replied plainly.

When Helena brought the packaged medicine, the aristocrat asked, "How much is the consultation fee?"

"Twenty for acupuncture, one hundred for the medicinal herbs," Helena replied.

The aristocrat was momentarily stunned and then asked, "Miss, are you sure it's only a hundred and twenty?"

"Yes, that's our consistent pricing at Finnegan Medical Center." Helena smiled.

At that, the aristocrat turned to Aiden and sincerely said, "Dr. Finnegan, you are a good doctor. However, as your patient, I cannot accept this price!"

She then took out a checkbook and a pen from her bag, swiftly wrote down a string of numbers, and handed it to Helena with a smile. "This is the consultation fee. When I recover, I will bring my friends here."

"Fifty thousand?!" Helena exclaimed.

Aiden shook his head. "Madam, this is too much!"

"Dr. Finnegan, you probably don't profit much from your fees. Also, I assume you treat impoverished patients for free. Consider this fee as my contribution to those in need, a way to accumulate merit for myself." The aristocrat said with a smile.

Although the aristocrat went home happily, Aiden was unaware that his actions had inadvertently caused trouble for himself.

Aiden glanced at the weather and then said, "Let's call it a day!"

"Yes!" Helena cheered. Her favorite words to hear every day were when Aiden announced it was time to leave work.

As Helena began to tidy up and prepare to leave, Aiden's phone rang. Upon hearing this, she set down the things in her hands and looked at Aiden, wondering if it was work-related.

Her attitude pleased Aiden, but after checking his phone, he waved at Helena, indicating that she could leave.

The call was from Jonathan, which surprised Aiden. He answered the call.

"Mr. Finnegan, are you available now?" Jonathan said with a smile.

Aiden nodded and replied, "I was just about to finish work."

"How about stepping out for a while?" Jonathan suggested.

Aiden pondered for a moment and said, "Sure."

"I'll send someone to pick you up then."

After their brief conversation, they hung up.
