Alpha Damon (Sienna) novel Chapter 193

Damon:

“We still have to take care of whatever Giovanni chose to do. The man played a game and now we have to put a stop to it.” I said, looking at Ethan who nodded.

“He is still going to keep playing his games more and more. You know that he’s not going to stop and now that you have his daughter, he’s just going to keep reacting more aggressively. He might go ahead and harm someone within the house.” He said, and I hummed in response.

“Is there any sign of Caleb? The man just went MIA and you can’t really expect me to just ignore that he was supposed to be tracking Delilah. Delilah is here with us.” I said, looking down at the paper that I had in front of me. There was still a lot of work to take care of and I knew that we would need to going to need to handle it before we went home. If we did, then we were not going to be able to do anything. I had a rule, no work at home. Because I knew that if I allowed it, even Sienna will try and run away from whatever it is that she had when she was dealing with me when she was upset under the excuse of work.

“There’s no sign of him. We’ve sent men looking everywhere. He seems to have disappeared completely.”

“There is nothing called he seems to have disappeared completely. You need to find him. If Giovanni hates him or gets a hand on him, then this is not something that I’m going to let go of.” I said, and he nodded. “Find Caleb and make sure that he’s back and safe. Otherwise, I’m going to end up turning things into a bloodbath and those that are against us are not going to like it.”

“It’s not like they’re going to like anything that we do from here, you do realize that?”

“I do. But there’s a difference between attacking someone who chose to seek refugee, especially since it’s his own daughter and my beta. I’m not going to let him get away with it. As for Delilah, she chose this path. She knew what she was getting into. Whatever it is that she is trying to hide from now, that is on her.” Ethan hummed in response and looked away from me, seeming completely lost in whatever thoughts he had in his mind. Whatever that he was thinking about seemed to be bothering him, but he was doing his best to try and hide it.

“Speak freely. You can speak freely.”

“You know that I don’t hide anything from you and you know that I don’t play the game of guess, mate. What are you going to do about Delilah? Lysandra?” He asked, making my chest ache for a moment. Even mentioning her name was one that I did not want. Not because I had any feelings for her, but because she chose this path and now I was forced to pick up the pieces after her. Pieces that I did not want to have to pick up.

“If we’re going to align with Delilah, if she’s being completely honest, then I’m going to need to save Lysandra.” I said, and he raised an eyebrow.

“And Sienna?”

“She is going to need to handle it. She chose to bring Delilah over. I don’t understand how she managed to think that she could trust her. But I know this, it’s not going to end well. It is going to be bloodier than I would want to deal with, nor is it going to be something that I would want to handle.” I said, tapping the table. “Anyway, we’re going to need to get off. It’s been a long day and I think that there is a lot of news that I’m going to want to listen to, to hear and to want to understand at home. Starting with why the man chose to shoot her. And we’re going to need to make sure that this is not some kind of delusion just to simply get her inside the house. She chose to play that once, I doubt that she won’t do it again if she needed to.”

“Then you shouldn’t have brought her in the first place.” Ethan teased, making me let out a low warning growl.

“Don’t make me regret my moment of humanity, even I have a heart and towards people like her, unfortunately, she is still a woman. And I do not put myself in a situation where I woman can be harmed while I just stand and watch. No matter who she is.”

*******************************

Something was off.

I felt it the second I walked through the door. The energy in the air shifted, subtle, but enough for my wolf to stir restlessly beneath my skin. I called out her name, half expecting the usual warmth in her voice when she responded, but it didn’t come.

Instead, I nodded, brushing a knuckle down her cheek. “Then how about you come to bed? I believe that even our baby girl can sleep by our side. What do you think?”

She hesitated, then gave a small, almost imperceptible nod.

I rose and stepped back, giving her the space she clearly needed, even if I hated it.

Because something was wrong.

And whatever it was, she wasn’t ready to tell me.

Not yet.

“I’ll follow you in a minute. I just need to get her things from the nursery. If she’s going to be spending the night in our room, I think that we need to be prepared…”
