I let the silence stretch. Then;
“We all felt it. We try to deny it, pretend that it is not real but neither one of us is a fool to think that it is not.” I said. “There has been a shift in the air. The fog. The dead things crawling where they don’t belong. They are roaming around and they are not going to stop. This is going to be a war like we have never been. No wolf stood against those who have been dead and survived without the fear of being caught into what is to be. But what we do know is that we stand regardless.”
Murmurs rippled through the ranks. I raised my hand. They stopped.
“This isn’t just about Caleb anymore. He didn’t just die, he was used. And now? Now something worse is coming.” I said, taking a breath. “And whatever this is, it is not going to stop. What the motive behind it is, we don’t know, but they are not going to stop.”
A warrior in the front row shifted. “Alpha… who’s behind it?”
I met his eyes.
“Her name is Tatiana, also known as Marissa.” I said. “She was presumed dead within the pack years ago. Had it not been for her, I wouldn’t be standing here today. However, there has been a shift, and somehow, she’s not. She’s walking again. Bringing things with her. Things that should’ve stayed buried. And whatever she has as a reason, it is not going to be ending in our favor.”
Another voice from the back, female, strong. “What does she want? We were her family, why would she be attacking us?” “There could be many reasons around it…” I didn’t flinch. “Power. Control. Anger. Revenge. The list goes on, but that is not the main issue. It is the fact that she’s not alone. We’ve seen signs. Heard whispers. Packs falling silent. Lands turning black. She’s building something. She is using our wolves as leverage, power sources, and anyone around is fearing her presence.”
“As they should.” I continued. “A wolf like her was powerful. She chose to live as an Omega, but that does not mean that she was one completely. It does not mean that she was weak or that she should be ignored. We need to stand united as wolves, now more than ever.”
Ethan spoke up then. “The southern packs are watching, but they won’t move unless we lead. Alpha Kael sent men, but they are yet to respond.”
“Then here it is,” I said, stepping forward, voice rising. “We take the fight to her. To whatever army she’s building. We don’t wait to be hunted. We start the hunt. As the wolves and predators that we are. We are going to use the power that we as wolves have. Even if it means siding with those that we deemed as our enemies. At least, until this war is over. Every wolf needs to be willing to stand for this, else they are going to be alone or even worse, our enemies.”
“Even the rogues?” One of the warriors asked.
“Every wolf. Rogue, ally, or enemy. We are going to stand as one. At least, until this is over.” I said, looking at the pack members.
Carter added, “We are going to send word to everyone around, Alpha. Even those who we know as enemies. We will do our best to get them siding with us.”
“Good,” I said. “Now move.”
They scattered, fast, efficient.
Ethan lingered. “You think we’re really ready for this?”
“No,” I said. “But we’re doing it anyway.”
