Alpha Damon (Sienna) novel Chapter 85

Damon:

I didn’t sleep.

Not a second.

I laid awake in the guest room, staring at the ceiling until sunrise, my mind replaying every damn second of last night.

I couldn’t bring myself to sleep in my room after last night. I wanted her to be by my side when I returned to the room. And yet her stubborn demeanor told her that it was correct for her to be sleeping in her own room.

The way that the towel was on the floor after she had gotten dressed, she had clearly just taken a shower. Her wet hair gave her out the way she smelled like vanilla. Everything just played in my head.

Her flushed cheeks.

The way her chest rose with every breath when I got too close.

And the part that drove me insane?

She didn’t pull away.

She didn’t scream.

She didn’t ask me to stop.

The two of us just kept going, our bodies colliding as if they were one.

If I hadn’t left the room…

I ran a hand through my hair and muttered a curse under my breath. I was losing control, and I hated that I had no one to blame but myself. I shouldn’t have gone to her room. Shouldn’t have looked at her like that. Shouldn’t have wanted her like I did.

But god, I did.

And now?

I was avoiding her like a damn coward.

I stayed out of the house all morning, walked the perimeter twice, checked in with every border guard myself, and even patrolled the southern post alone. Anything to keep me away from her.

From her scent.

From her voice.

From those eyes that haunted me even in my dreams.

By the time I stepped into the training field, Ethan was waiting, arms crossed, brows raised.

“You avoiding her?” he asked, like it was casual.

I didn’t bother answering. Just took a water bottle from the table and chugged it.

He tilted his head. “You’ve got that ‘I got too close and now I don’t know what to do with myself’ look.”

I gave him a hard stare. “Didn’t ask for your opinion.”

He smirked. “You didn’t have to. It’s written all over your face. And it’s not like I need to actually ask for permission to say or do anything, do I?”

Before I could bite back, I felt my father’s presence behind me.

“Trouble in paradise?” He asked, tone light, but his eyes were sharp.

“I’m handling it,” I said flatly.

“You’re doing the opposite,” he muttered. “You’re letting her confuse the hell out of you, and in the process, you’re letting everyone else see you off balance. You’re Alpha, son. Not a teenager fumbling over his first heat. And it is not like you don’t even know her. The two of you seem to have the same connection. I don’t understand why you’re pushing her away.”

I didn’t respond.

Because he was fucking right.

I could feel the whole damn pack watching me closer lately. Waiting for me to stumble. Waiting for a reason to talk.

I couldn’t give them one.

“Get to the point,” I snapped, stepping closer, my fists clenched.

He raised a brow, pretending to be unfazed. “Just came to check on your father. Heard about the unfortunate… accident.”

Father’s was already behind me, his jaw tight.

“You’ve got some fucking nerve,” Ethan muttered.

Giovanni didn’t flinch. If anything, he seemed more poised, more determined to throw whatever venom he wanted to shoot at me.

“I also came to remind you something, Damon.” He took a step forward. “This war… doesn’t have to happen. But if you think you can keep my daughter and throw away every alliance we’ve ever had, you’re a bigger fool than I thought.”

“I didn’t keep your daughter,” I said coldly. “She chose to leave. And if you think showing up here unannounced is going to scare me, you clearly don’t remember who the fuck I am.”

“Oh, I do,” he said, smiling. “You’re the boy who still hasn’t figured out what side he’s on. Because if you had… the Omega wouldn’t still be breathing under your roof.”

Every nerve in my body snapped.

I lunged before father grabbed my shoulder and yanked me back.

“Not here,” He growled under his breath. “Not yet.”

Giovanni gave me one last look, then turned on his heel. “Tell your mother I said hello. I am sure that my presence here would be one that she would have wanted to join taking part in.”

He walked out like this wasn’t a declaration of war.

I stood there, breathing hard, every muscle in my body shaking with the need to rip his throat out.

“You should’ve let me end him,” I said.

Father looked at me, then nodded slowly. “Next time… I might.”
