Aww Seven Exes Begged Cute Blocked novel Chapter 31

**A Promise Written on the Rusted Edge of Time**

After I walked out that fateful night, the skies opened up, unleashing a torrential downpour.

My roommate casually mentioned that a stunning guy had been standing outside our dorm, drenched and unyielding, battling the storm for hours on end.

I felt a strange mixture of concern and indifference wash over me. I didn’t react or try to coax him into leaving; it was as if I was caught in a web of my own thoughts, unable to untangle myself from the past.

Damien remained there, a solitary figure in the relentless rain, until dawn broke and the first light of day painted the world anew.

But instead of returning to California, where the sun always seemed to shine, he made his way home.

A few days later, I received an unexpected call from his mother.

“Nova, sweetheart,” she said, her voice laced with worry, “you really need to talk some sense into Damien. Ever since he came back from Boston, he’s been running a fever of 102 and stubbornly refusing to see a doctor or take any medicine. He finally seems to be on the mend today, but now he’s talking about dropping out of school and retaking the SATs just to get into MIT and be closer to you…”

A wave of frustration washed over me, and I could feel a headache brewing behind my eyes.

Without a moment’s hesitation, I firmly responded, “That’s out of the question, Mrs. Sullivan. I won’t be waiting around for him. I’ve meticulously crafted my entire college journey, and I refuse to put my life on hold for anyone. Please tell him to stop being foolish, or I swear I’ll lose even more respect for him.”

In the background, I heard a loud crash, the sound of something breaking, perhaps a sign of the chaos that was unfolding in Damien’s world.

Eventually, I learned that his grandparents had to step in, urging him to return to school and not let his dreams slip through his fingers.

Yet, it seemed he was still determined to apply for graduate programs at MIT, all in the name of being closer to me.

During his breaks, he would fly to Boston, just to catch fleeting glimpses of me from afar, like a moth drawn to a flame.

Even when I turned my back on him, he would leave care packages filled with the little things I once adored, reminders of a past I was trying to leave behind.

But by the time winter break rolled around, I had already found someone new.
