Aww Seven Exes Begged Cute Blocked novel Chapter 40

**A Promise Written on the Rusted Edge of Time by Dael Rowan Sire**

With the whirlwind of the spring semester consuming his every moment, Bryce found it increasingly difficult to linger in London. Yet, like clockwork, he would still appear every few weeks, a ghost haunting the periphery of my life.

He never really did anything beyond standing there, outside my building, his presence a silent accusation. The weight of his gaze was palpable, especially when he caught sight of Felix and me emerging together. His eyes would narrow, and a sneer would twist his lips as he scrutinized Felix from head to toe, his disdain evident. “So many vultures,” he would mutter under his breath, as if Felix were nothing more than carrion.

Felix, ever the perceptive one, nudged my shoulder lightly, a teasing grin spreading across his face. “Looks like he’s calling you carrion,” he remarked, his voice dripping with amusement.

I was left momentarily speechless, caught off guard by the absurdity of the situation. Bryce’s relentless harassment was beginning to gnaw at my patience, making me seriously contemplate a change in my living arrangements. Unfortunately, I had missed the deadline for university housing and was now stuck with a private rental that felt more like a prison than a home.

However, a glimmer of hope appeared when I learned that a room had opened up in the university halls. The news sent Felix into a sullen silence, his frustration palpable as if he had taken the news as a personal affront. He busied himself in the kitchen, chopping a poor piece of meat with an intensity that felt almost violent.

The atmosphere between us was thick with unspoken words, a tension that lingered in the air. Hours passed without a single word exchanged. Finally, Felix broke the silence, his expression still dark. “Want ramen or not?” he asked, his tone challenging.

I hesitated, feeling awkward under the weight of his scowl. “Nah. I’m trying to eat lighter,” I replied, attempting to deflect the conversation.

Felix considered my response, his brow furrowing in thought. “How about I make you a broth-only version?” he suggested, his voice softening.

I let out a resigned sigh. “Fine,” I conceded, knowing that his culinary skills were worth the compromise.

As we sat down for dinner, Felix’s demeanor shifted. “If that tosser keeps showing up, I can handle it. You shouldn’t have to move just because he can’t take a hint,” he declared, a fierce determination in his voice.

“How?” I asked, genuinely curious but also skeptical.

He merely smirked, a glint of mischief in his eyes. “Don’t worry about it,” he said cryptically, leaving me to wonder what he had in mind.

For two long months, Bryce vanished from my life, his absence a strange relief. The only reminders of him were the incessant texts, each one a stubborn insistence on sharing his mundane daily life with me.

Eventually, I made the decision to block him completely, not because I had moved on, but because I had said yes to someone else.

I glanced at the screen, my heart sinking. A text from an unknown number read simply:
