Aww Seven Exes Begged Cute Blocked novel Chapter 67

**A Promise Written on the Rusted Edge of Time by Dael Rowan Sire**
**Chapter 67**

After spending what felt like an eternity in the bathroom, splashing my face with cold water repeatedly, I finally felt the heat of anxiety begin to ebb away. The coolness of the water had a calming effect, washing away the remnants of my earlier distress.

Stepping out, I found Chase leaning casually against the wall of the hallway. His striking features were accentuated by the soft light, and the way his dark hair fell across his forehead added to his rebellious allure. There was something magnetic about him, a charm that was hard to resist.

The oppressive heat of the day had him dressed simply in a plain white T-shirt, which clung to his well-defined chest, subtly hinting at the strength beneath. A delicate silver chain rested around his neck, catching the light and drawing my gaze.

As I emerged from the bathroom, he instinctively reached into his pocket, pulling out a tissue. With surprising tenderness, he dried my hands, which were still damp from washing. The gesture felt intimate, and I couldn’t help but feel a flutter in my chest.

“Where is everyone?” I asked, glancing around at the unusually quiet private room.

Chase’s gaze fell to my hands, and I noticed his Adam’s apple bob slightly as he spoke, his voice low and husky. “It’s getting late. I sent them home.”

A sense of finality hung in the air. “Let’s go too,” I suggested, wanting to escape the lingering tension.

“I’ve already paid,” he replied, a hint of satisfaction in his tone.

I nodded in agreement, my mind racing. “Why did they leave so suddenly?” I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

He met my eyes, a flicker of amusement dancing in his expression. “Because someone was embarrassed.”

With that, he straightened, raising an eyebrow in mock challenge. “Miss Smith, am I truly that shameful to be seen with?”

I felt a rush of indignation. “Don’t I deserve some official recognition?” I shot back, a playful smile tugging at my lips.

For a brief moment, I saw genuine hurt flash in his eyes, and I regretted my words. I knew then that we had crossed into a more complex phase of our relationship.

I reached out, tugging gently at the hem of his shirt, a silent plea for understanding.

But Chase remained steadfast, his expression unreadable. I glanced around, ensuring we were alone, and then stood on tiptoe, pressing a soft kiss to the corner of his mouth.

A smile broke through his serious demeanor, the corner of his lips lifting involuntarily. “I want our relationship to be public,” he murmured, his voice low and earnest.

I could only manage a shy smile, knowing that for now, a simple photo of us together on Facebook would have to suffice.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed incessantly with notifications, pulling me back to reality.

Chase, clearly amused, said, “Let’s go. I’ll walk you home.”

Meanwhile, across town, Ethan had just learned from his mother that Lily had been accepted to Harvard. The news hit him like a bolt from the blue, stirring memories of when Lily, at seventeen, would study late into the night, her health deteriorating under the pressure of her dreams.
