Chapter 167
The atmosphere upstairs was a world apart.
As Zane reached the door, he heard someone laughing loudly.
He changed his shoes in the entryway and walked in with a smile.
“What’s everyone talking about?”
“About our little Elara finally making up with Gavin,” Charles said, not even turning his head, as always sticking up for Elara.
“Did you get Amelia out of here? I don’t even know why you brought her today in the first place,”
Zane smiled lightly. “A special circumstance. It won’t happen again.”
“Won’t happen?”
Charles sounded skeptical, but he glanced at Elara sitting quietly to the side and bit back whatever else he was going to say.
Everyone, including Zane, caught his meaning.
“Her and I.” Zane said, his tone remarkably even, “from now on, we go our separate ways. Clean break.”
Everyone except Gavin was stunned.
Everyone knew Amelia was his cherished white moonlight.
He’d just brought her along and now he was suddenly drawing a line?
And while these words were said to the group, it was clear they were really an explanation meant for Elara.
Elara’s POV
Maybe Zane said those things deliberately for me to hear, but honestly? I couldn’t care less.
I kept my head down, perfectly still, focusing on sipping my juice. But I could feel it—a sharp, intense gaze burning into me. My gut told me it
was Gavin’s.
Dinner, which Gavin had ordered from a fancy private kitchen, arrived right on time.
When we sat down, everyone silently left the seat next to Zane empty for me.
Charles grinned. “Little Song, sit here.”
“Okay.”
It’s not like getting divorced meant we had to be mortal enemies. I took the seat without a fuss.
But the moment I sat down, someone’s foot came down squarely on top of mine,
I instinctively tried to pull my foot back, but they wouldn’t lift it. I glanced down under the table, then followed the leg straight up to its owner.
Above the table, everyone was laughing and clinking glasses.

Under the table, his foot was pressed blatantly against my bare skin.
It felt like we were having an affair right under everyone’s noses
Gavin’s expression was all cool indifference. His eyes swept over me, then over the distance between me and Zane
He looked completely justified, not seeing anything wrong with using his foot to pin me down.
Then again, he’s never been a gentleman.
This wasn’t just about not being allowed to touch a single finger he wasn’t allowing Zane to get near me.
Resigned. I shifted my chair away, putting more space between me and Zane. Only when there was enough room for a whole person between us did my foot finally regain its freedom.
So childish.
Zane had been chatting with Charles and the others. Noticing me edging away, he turned his head, his voice soft. “Are you still upset about what happened the other day?”
He meant the whole “fake divorce” thing.
I shook my head, my tone calm and even. “No.”
The divorce was final. Why would I still care about his “fake divorce” proposal now?
“Really?” He poured me more drink, leaning closer to murmur, “Amelia and I are completely done. There’s no need for us to continue the fake divorce anymore.”
Remembering how close Gavin and I lived now, Zane actually smiled.
“I didn’t expect your brother moving would mean moving right across from you. Maybe that’s for the best. After the housewarming, I’ll help you pack your things. Let’s go home together.”
