**Pushing the Edge 205**
**Chapter 205**
I indulged him for a moment, allowing the question to linger in my mind. “If I had to imagine… probably, yes.”
A subtle smile began to dance in his eyes, a flicker of amusement that warmed the air between us.
“So, just from hearing your grandmother mention him a few times, you’ve already deduced that he’s a decent guy?” he probed, his tone teasing yet curious.
I shook my head, a soft laugh escaping my lips. “No, I just think your grandmother is a truly wonderful person.”
And her cooking? Absolutely divine.
“Points for Grandma,” I added, a playful glint in my eye.
Gavin paused, contemplating my words. “That works too,” he finally replied, though I couldn’t quite grasp the full meaning behind his statement.
The ravioli simmered gently on the stove, nearing completion, yet Gavin showed no inclination to take his leave. I felt a gentle urgency to nudge him toward the door.
“Shouldn’t you be heading back soon?” I asked, my voice light but laced with expectation.
He lifted his chin, a half-smile playing at the corners of his mouth. “Weren’t you waiting to go back with me?”
I decided not to play coy. “Fine. Let’s go.”
On the surface, I appeared calm and collected, but the tips of my ears betrayed my composure, flushing a deep crimson.
Yet, Gavin remained rooted in place, a mischievous glint in his eyes that left me perplexed. “We’re not going?” I questioned, my brow furrowing in confusion.
He casually gestured toward the bathroom with a tilt of his chin. “I need to freshen up first.”
“Oh, right,” I replied, the realization dawning on me.
It hardly mattered whose space we used to get ready; I simply wanted to be with him.
I made my way to the master bathroom, just as I picked up my mouthwash cup. To my surprise, I noticed Gavin shuffling in behind me, his house slippers making soft sounds against the floor.
This time, the intention behind his presence became clear. “I don’t have a new mouthwash cup here,” I said, slightly flustered.
Aside from Chloe, and my mentor and his wife, there wasn’t anyone else I considered close enough to warrant extra toiletries. My mentor and his wife would never crash at my place, so I never bothered to keep spare items stocked.
Gavin raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at his lips. “So you’re saying you do have a toothbrush?”
