Isabel looked up at the sound and was pleasantly surprised to see Evelyn. She immediately set aside what she was doing and opened the door to come out.
"Why didn't you say you were coming?"
Evelyn glanced into the lab and asked, "Can I come in?"
"In a bit. I need to eat first."
The two made their way to the reception area.
Evelyn asked, "Are you looking to hire?"
"I am," Isabel said between bites. "I was thinking of starting with the Durantin family. They're relatives, after all, and with my father around, there shouldn't be any major issues. I don't trust outsiders right now."
Evelyn offered, "I know a few people. Want me to send them over for you to vet?"
"Don't rush," Isabel said. "This is a long-term project. Once I'm more settled, I'll let you know."
Evelyn, never one to stand on ceremony with her, just nodded.
"Did you talk to your husband about the investment?" Isabel asked.
"I told him everything. This is my call. Just send me the account details when you have them, and I'll wire the money."
"I love you."
...
After finishing her lunch, Isabel packed up the container. Martha would take care of it when she came by later.
She then led Evelyn into her laboratory.
This wasn't Evelyn's field, but she knew the basics. The columns of data made her a little dizzy.
"How's your right hand?"
Isabel sat down at a lab bench and picked up a test tube to demonstrate.
Evelyn noticed her right hand was still trembling slightly.
"Can it still be treated?"
"I've tried every possible treatment."
