Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 57

Isabel felt her vision go dark with rage.

He was offering this like some grand gesture of charity, and she was supposed to be grateful for it?!

But then again, who was to blame?

It was her own fault for what she'd done in the past.

Taking a moment to calm the ache in her chest, Isabel’s tone softened. “I won’t be going back to Halcyon Hills Residence...”

But the man’s next words left her with no room to refuse.

“If you don’t come back, how are we supposed to discuss the divorce?”

“...”

Isabel nearly ground her teeth to dust.

Finally, she managed a single, clipped, “Fine.”

The line went dead instantly.

Just like his personality—ruthless and single-minded in achieving his goals.

Relentless until he gets what he wants.

And immediately cold and detached once he does.

Never wasting an extra second.

Isabel shoved the phone back into her pocket and wearily rubbed her eyes.

The frustration coiling in her chest just wouldn’t dissipate.

She leaned over the sink and splashed cold water on her face.

She had taken the call in the restroom.

Luckily, everyone was busy at this time, so no one saw her meltdown.

The winter water was frigid.

But not as cold as her heart.

After finishing up for the day, Dylan invited her to dinner, but Isabel declined.

“I have something to do.”

“What is it?” Dylan asked, then added, “The seeds you wanted have arrived. I was thinking we could head to the west side of the city and grab a bite on the way.”

“Not tonight,” Isabel said, grabbing her bag. “How about tomorrow?”

Dylan rode the elevator down with her.

Mainly to avoid sharing a ride with Selena.

“You still haven’t told me what’s up.”

“Discussing the divorce.” There was no need to hide it; she had already told Dylan. She just felt listless and reluctant to talk about it after Adrian had wrongly accused her of making a scene.

Since it was about the divorce, Dylan didn’t press further.
