Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 9

Isabel's eyes reddened with fury. She opened her mouth, but no words came out. When it came to Selena, he had never shown consideration for anyone else. Arguing was pointless.

Dylan couldn't take it anymore. He had thought that no matter how much Adrian disliked Isabel, he would at least grant her a few hours for surgery out of respect for their marriage. He never imagined he could be this cruel.

"You have no idea how important her right hand is!"

Adrian's voice was dismissive. "Why don't you tell me? How is it so important?"

"I..." Dylan was stuck. The pharmaceutical research they had been conducting was classified. When their anti-cancer drug, Y-1, was ready to be announced, Isabel had left the project to get married. Her name was removed, and she'd signed a strict non-disclosure agreement. In the end, the discovery was published under his name alone.

"Can't say?" Adrian's gaze fell on Isabel, a scornful smile playing on his lips. "Your methods are getting more sophisticated."

Isabel was already feeling unwell. With each of his cutting remarks, the color drained further from her face. After a long silence, she swallowed the bitterness in her throat and spoke. "Adrian, if you're going to make this so difficult, I'll have to call your grandmother."

Six years ago, when she had used her mother's heart as a bargaining chip for their marriage, Adrian had been unwilling. He would have rather given her enough money to last several lifetimes. It was Old Mrs. Blackwell who had forced him to marry her. After the wedding, it was Old Mrs. Blackwell again who had drugged them and locked them in a room together, which resulted in Oliver.

Adrian despised it when she used his grandmother to threaten him, though she had never done so actively. In fact, for the past six years, in her attempts to please him, she not only avoided complaining to his grandmother but also did her best to keep Martha from doing so. No matter what he did, she always found a way to defend him.

But her right hand was too important. She had to play her last card.

Adrian let out a cold laugh. "Do you really think you can use my grandmother to control me every single time?"

Isabel didn't want to do this, but she just didn't understand. They were getting a divorce, so why was he still tormenting her? It was bad enough that he hadn't saved her and had injured her hand. Now he was preventing her from seeking treatment. She had no choice but to fight back.

"But it's worked every time, hasn't it?"
