Although she could understand his actions, she still felt a sudden tightness in her chest and struggled to breathe for a moment.
She then sent Gideon a message on WhatsApp. "Are you there? Your dog showed up at my doorstep. Do you have time to come get it? I'm worried it might get lost."
As soon as the message was sent, a red exclamation mark appeared. The message had been sent but was not delivered.
Only then did she realize that he had blocked her on WhatsApp as well.
It seemed that ever since he learned of her marriage and said, "From now on, we cut all ties," he had truly meant it. He had erased every way she could reach him.
He wasn't wrong to do so.
Still, an inexplicable weight settled on Giselle's chest, making her breathing grow unsteady.
For the dog's safety, she finally decided to take it back to Gideon's house herself.
Having once endured the heartbreak of losing a beloved pet, she couldn't allow this dog to face the same fate. Even if it could find its way home, there was no guarantee it would not encounter danger or fall into the wrong hands.
She gathered the belongings she needed to return to the villa, pushed her suitcase with one hand, and held the dog's leash with the other before heading to the underground garage and getting into her car.
It was already past 7:00 pm, and darkness had settled over the city.
She had skipped dinner but didn't feel hungry. Placing the dog in the passenger seat, she set the GPS to Gideon's usual residence and drove toward the destination with a nervous heart.
Over an hour later, her car pulled up in front of Gideon's villa.
Eddie's expression grew solemn. "Ms. Holt, Mr. Grayson isn't hosting guests this evening. It would be best if you went inside to see him. At the very least, meet with him, spend some time with him, and speak to him if you can. You don't know, Mr. Grayson…
Hearing his hesitant tone, Giselle frowned in confusion. "What's wrong with him? I heard a lot of voices in the living room. It sounded lively."
Eddie looked troubled. "It would be best if you went in to see him. Stay with him for a while and try to talk to him. With the way things are now, I don't even dare tell Mr. Kane. I'm afraid he might lose his temper."
The more serious Eddie made it sound, the more Giselle's first thought was whether Gideon was sick, or perhaps abusing substances. Without hesitating further, she forced herself forward and walked straight into the living room.
The space was large and open. She took several steps inside before she finally saw what was happening, and her eyes landed on Gideon sitting on the couch.
She froze. She hadn't expected to be confronted with such a shocking scene. Her body stiffened, and she stood rooted to the spot, staring in disbelief.
