Tony's and Renee's faces fell when they heard Giselle's ridiculous demand.
"That's outrageous!" Tony snapped with a dark expression. "Do not get involved in our marital affairs."
Renee was mad too, but she didn't take it too seriously. "If we divorce, what good would you get out of it? Besides, we're pretty old now, and he's often not at home. Our lives are no different from couples who have separated. You shouldn't be demanding us to divorce."
Giselle snickered. "Fine. If you can't do that, I have a second demand for you."
Staring Renee down, she began, "Your starting capital came from the inheritance of my grandparents. My mom was at least entitled to half of that inheritance, and as an extension, I am entitled to it too. Your company has since grown a lot. Shouldn't I be entitled to 20 percent of your company stocks?"
Renee rolled her eyes at Giselle.
Giselle added with a faint smile, "If you transfer the shares to me, we'll be a united front. If you have any partnerships with the Kane Group, I could always promise you some benefits. Isn't that great?"
"Do not fantasize about the stocks." Renee snarled. "Your grandpa left less than 100 million dollars in inheritance. I worked hard for years for the success of my company. That has nothing to do with your grandparents…
"If you're willing to put the past behind, I could see you as my daughter and offer you a 2.5 percent stake in the company."
Refusing to budge, Giselle remained staring at Renee.
She casually set her expensive limited edition Hermes bag on Giselle's table. Then, she confidently proposed, "Since Donovan insists on having you deal with me, let's have a serious discussion today."
Giselle stared into Renee's eyes. "Fine. You have one last chance. I'd like to see how you're gonna persuade me."
Renee said with seriousness, "If the wholesale price of that flu medicine we bought last time has increased by no more than 50 percent, I can bundle it with another gastrointestinal medicine from Concord Pharmaceuticals."
The medicine that Renee mentioned was an effective over-the-counter medicine that Concord Pharmaceuticals had been selling for years. In the last two years, sales had stalled for unknown reasons, causing significant inventory buildup.
Renee's suggestion of bulk purchasing this medicine and selling it at her chain pharmacies could help clear the inventory.
