Renee looked confused when she noticed Sebastian bringing home a woman. Scanning Vivienne from head to toe, she coldly confronted Sebastian, "What's going on? Why did you ask me to rush home?"
He went straight to the point. Putting an arm around Vivienne's waist, he announced, "This is my girlfriend, Vivienne Lockwood. She's pregnant with my child. I'm bringing her to meet with you and dad because we're getting married. Can you and Dad help out with the procedures?"
Sebastian grew up with a golden spoon and was spoiled rotten by Renee. Nobody had said no to him. So, he was incredibly confident in his decision to marry a woman he loved, thinking it was an easy feat.
"Are you getting married?" Renee's eyes widened in anger. Once again, she sized Vivienne up. This time, she noticed that Vivienne, although young and pretty, looked rather tacky. She could immediately tell that Vivienne was not from high society.
"Who's this woman, and where is she from?" Renee demanded an explanation from Sebastian. "And who are her parents? How could you bring a random woman home and want to get married to her? Did you think marriage is as simple as toy shopping?"
Although Vivienne had long heard about Renee—even privately cursing out Renee with Giselle—she felt flustered under Renee's condescending look. She could not even muster the courage to greet Renee.
Right as Sebastian was about to explain his romance with Vivienne, Anne slowly descended the stairs. She asked sarcastically, "Mom, do you really not know that woman?"
Renee turned to her daughter. "What's that supposed to mean? Do you know her?"
Arms folded, Anne wandered into the living room, shooting Vivienne an arrogant and disdainful look.
She introduced Vivienne to Renee, "That's the dentist I told you about last time. She's Giselle's best friend. Her work revolves around checking people's teeth. She has neither money nor background, and her private life is as messy as Giselle's.
"Shut up!" Renee snarled at her son. "If you dare get married without our knowledge, we'll kick you out of the family, and you'll never get a single cent from me!"
Shocked, he was at a loss for words.
Anne added fuel to the fire. She taunted Vivienne, "Did that bitch Giselle suggest getting knocked up? Did you really think you could marry into our family just because you are pregnant?
"Dream on! A woman of your standing will only taint our gene pool. Abort it now, and we can offer to pay for your medical bills and supplements."
