Gideon froze for a few seconds when he saw Dorothea.
Over the years, he had only seen her at certain public events. Despite knowing who she was, he had never been to the Kane residence or spoken to her.
After learning the truth about his parentage, seeing her again felt abrupt and strangely complicated.
However, he responded indifferently, "Yes. What do you want with me?"
Dorothea walked over to his bedside and studied his face closely. She couldn't help but notice how much he resembled Ethan, especially the upper half of his face. He was a near mirror image, even echoing the features of his grandfather, Robert.
"I'm… Ethan's mother," Dorothea suddenly spoke. "I already know the truth about who you are."
She looked slightly uneasy as she added casually, "Have you been doing well these past years?"
"I'm still surviving, that's all," Gideon replied flatly. Although he knew she was his biological grandmother, he had no intention of acknowledging her as such. To him, she was just a stranger.
His tone was indifferent. "If there's nothing else, please leave. I need to rest now."
Dorothea hadn't expected him to be so cold and impolite. It left her somewhat displeased.
She looked at his strikingly handsome face. He exuded an air of rebellion and untamed, unlike the pampered Zachary at home. At that moment, she realized she couldn't bring herself to dislike him.
With patience, she asked, "Your injuries aren't too serious, are they?"
Gideon remained distant. "I'm fine. Go back and tell your grandson to stop provoking me. This time, I showed mercy, but I won't next time."
