Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 459

"The child you're carrying is all I have left of my son. Please, let's ensure this precious life arrives safely—they are my one true solace."

Vivienne felt pressured by Renee's raw, pitiful plea. She froze, then shook her head firmly.

"Ms. Moore, I understand your pain, but I hope you also understand mine. I don't want my child to come into this world without a father. That wouldn't be fair to him, so please don't make this harder for me."

"I understand," Renee said softly. "But if you give birth, I'll give you whatever you need—all the money, all the support. You won't suffer any loss."

Vivienne faltered at her words. She didn't know what she truly wanted. Logic urged her to end the pregnancy, yet memories of Sebastian's tenderness and Renee's sorrow chipped away at her resolve. She simply couldn't go through with it.

"No matter what, I'm begging you not to rush into a decision."

Without warning, Renee took Vivienne's phone, unlocked it, and transferred a hundred thousand dollars into her account.

"This is a token of my sincerity," Renee said gently, though her weary eyes still gleamed with sharpness. "Consider it an apology for my harsh words at the Holt residence. Ms. Lockwood, you're a smart woman. You know what this means."

"Let's end here for today. Go for a prenatal checkup soon. I'll come back in a couple of days." Renee rose, too drained to continue.

Vivienne neither agreed nor disagreed, and merely lowered her head in silence.

Renee gave her one last pat before stepping out the door. Outside, she stopped short at the sight of Giselle.

Once, she had wanted nothing more than to strangle her. Now, all her fire had burned out. As the ghosts of decades-old memories crashed against today's tragedy, the weight in her chest was so heavy she nearly coughed blood.
