Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 479

Giselle immediately snatched Lauren's phone, powered it off, and returned it to her bag.

She then turned to Lauren and coldly said, "Ms. Evans, you know what the legal consequences are for making a false accusation, right?"

Lauren lowered her eyes in resignation. "I don't know."

"Your actions have seriously damaged Donovan's reputation and caused huge financial losses for Kane Group. On top of that, you've made it harder for women who were actually assaulted to get justice," Giselle said firmly. "If we pressed charges, you could end up in prison for ten years or more. Your whole life could be ruined—career, family, love, and reputation included."

Lauren's face went pale, and she started crying. "Mrs. Kane, I've said everything I needed to. I know I was wrong. Can you please show some mercy?" she begged.

"Yes, as long as you follow my lead," Giselle replied calmly.

"Okay," Lauren whispered.

Giselle laid out her demands. "First, go to the police and tell the truth. Give them the evidence and get Donovan's case dropped. Second, hold a press conference, apologize publicly, and clear Donovan's name. Third, be a witness in court and explain everything Anne did behind the scenes with you."

Lauren hesitated but realized she had no choice. Her false accusation was a crime, and going against the Kane family would be impossible. She had to comply.

Lauren, the supposed victim, wore a mask and plain clothes, forcing herself onto the stage. Under the barrage of cameras, she admitted that she had falsely accused Donovan.

"Mr. Kane and I had mutual feelings for each other. Our relationship was completely consensual. He never assaulted me, but after we broke up, I let my selfishness take over and acted out of revenge, which caused this whole misunderstanding," she said.

"I'm really sorry for the harm I caused Mr. Kane. I know I was wrong, and I hope people will stop spreading this and leave him alone," she said, lowering her head as tears fell.

The live stream quickly went viral across the country. Giselle felt a fleeting relief hearing Lauren's confession, but it faded within minutes, replaced by a heavy weight in her chest.
