Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 483

"Don, you probably don't realize this, but the reason you got out this time is all thanks to Giselle. She went to Lauren, negotiated with her, and forced her to reveal the truth. I don't know what method she used, but whatever it was, it worked better than I expected. If we had relied on those lawyers, I don't think you would have been free in less than six months."

Donovan's expression remained as cold and unreadable as ever. His face showed no emotion, almost as if he didn't care about her efforts.

Ethan then recapped the entire case before expressing his outrage. "I never expected Anne to be behind this. She's so young, yet so calculating. Just because of that broken engagement, she went to such lengths to ruin you. It's lawless. When we get back, I'll hold her legally accountable. We can't just let this slide."

However, Donovan barely reacted, as if he had expected Anne's revenge all along. Giselle's expression was equally calm.

Regarding Anne, she still hadn't decided whether to deal with her privately in her own way or follow the proper legal channels.

Most importantly, her marriage with Donovan was now teetering on the edge.

If it was truly over and she no longer had any ties to him, why should she bother getting involved in Anne's schemes?

To keep the atmosphere from getting awkward, Giselle took a deep breath and asked Ethan, "Ethan, now that the case is closed, have you arranged the follow-up PR work?"

"You don't have to worry about that," Ethan replied. "I've already had the PR director handle it. They contacted the largest websites in the country and paid them to block all keywords related to this case. Now, you won't find a single word about it online. The only news that appears is about Don being acquitted. Any discussions left online are just rabble that will be forgotten in time. It won't affect Kane Group much."

Giselle nodded thoughtfully. "That's good."

After everything he had been through, he showed not a trace of guilt. He didn't mention the truth with Lauren, nor did he feel the need to explain anything to her.

For a man like him, sleeping with a woman casually was probably as trivial as having a meal. Why make such a fuss?

Faced with his boundless coldness, Giselle felt her heart grow equally cold.

She sat by the window, staring at the clouds. Her mind kept replaying the scene when he had begged for reconciliation and proposed. With each thought, the weight in her chest grew heavier.

It was then that she finally realized Donovan had completely lost faith in her. Whether it was her careless pride, her humble compromises, or even the extreme things she had done, including breaking the law just to help him out of trouble, none of it could move him anymore.
