Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 484

After the plane landed, the Kane family's driver was already waiting at the exit with the car.

When they reached the car, Ethan suggested that everyone head back to Kane Manor first. After all, Donovan had just gone through a lot. Dorothea had been calling every day to check on him, and now that everything was finally settled, the family had already prepared a celebration dinner to welcome him home.

"Ethan, you all go ahead. I have something to take care of tonight, so I won't be able to join," Giselle said.

Ethan tried to persuade her. "Whatever it is, it can wait. Don's finally back safe, and we should all sit down for a meal. I know you've been through a lot these past few days, and you really did your best to help him. Come home with us."

After everything that had happened, Ethan's attitude toward Giselle had softened. He had finally set aside his earlier prejudice against her and was willing to acknowledge her properly as the Kane family's daughter-in-law.

As Giselle glanced at Donovan's cold, expressionless face, her heart sank at once.

She let out a bitter laugh. "There's really no need. You all go ahead. I'm leaving."

Before Ethan could say more, she turned and quickly walked off in the other direction. As she walked, she pulled out her phone and called for a rideshare. Within minutes, she was gone.

She didn't return to the villa. Instead, she went back to her old apartment.

When she stepped inside, she paid no mind to the dust coating the place and collapsed onto the bed. Exhaustion washed over her, and with it came a dull ache in her chest. Her eyes burned, blurring with tears she could no longer hold back.

She had thought marrying him would simply make him a tool for her revenge. In her mind, it was something she could take or leave at will. Yet after barely half a month of his torment, she already felt broken into pieces, drained of all strength to resist him.

Her sobbing went on until her head throbbed so badly she couldn't think anymore. Eventually, she collapsed on the dusty bed and fell into a restless sleep, haunted by nightmares that left her even more drained when she woke the next morning.

More than once, she opened her chat with Donovan, only to see his last reply still stuck at half a month ago. It was just a sweet hug sticker, and her eyes blurred with tears once again.

At this point, she could no longer remember what she had done to deserve it. She could not understand why he had become so cold and merciless, leaving her with no way out.

When she thought of everything she had endured for him, and how he had already gone too far with another woman, the truth settled in. She gradually came to terms with it and chose to let go. She wanted not only to free herself, but to free him as well.
