Another night fell, and Giselle pulled out the old computer from home. She searched online for a divorce agreement template, made a few simple changes, and printed it out.
In this agreement, she gave up all claims to his assets and chose to walk away with nothing. Since they had no children and no property to divide, the divorce would be simple. All it required was both signatures on the agreement and a quick trip to the court.
After finishing the document, she spent another sleepless night.
The next morning, she was startled awake by the ringing of her phone. For a fleeting moment, she felt a surge of hope, but when she looked at the screen and saw Tony's name, her heart sank.
"What is it?" Giselle asked coldly.
"Giselle, answer me honestly. Did you frame Anne again?" he questioned.
Giselle snapped, "What are you trying to say? Stop beating around the bush."
Tony replied, "Anne was taken by the police this morning. They said she was involved with Donovan in that rape case in Astrakhan. Was this your doing?"
Ever since Sebastian's death, the Holts had been buried in grief and still hadn't recovered. As the eldest daughter, Anne had kept a low profile, spending most of her time at home comforting their parents.
When Anne was suddenly accused of a crime, Tony and Renee immediately assumed Giselle was behind it, trying to frame her.
What should have been a 40-minute drive stretched into an hour and a half before she finally arrived.
In a daze, she got out of the car without even turning off the engine. Clutching the divorce papers, she walked into the living room. This had been her home for nearly six months, yet every step now felt unbearably heavy.
She walked straight upstairs and gently pushed open the master bedroom door. Donovan was already up, standing by the window, talking on the phone.
She lingered silently at the doorway for a few moments. When he finally hung up, she shuffled over and held out the papers.
"I've signed the papers," she said softly. "Let's get a divorce."
