Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 486

Donovan glanced at the divorce papers in her hand but didn't reach for them. He didn't seem to hear anything she had just said.

"Have you finally realized you were wrong?" he asked coldly.

Giselle was silent for a few seconds, then let out a bitter laugh.

It all made sense. He had been deliberately punishing her by ignoring her and cheating, making her reflect for two weeks. Yet after everything had settled, he had the nerve to ask if she knew where she had gone wrong.

Her answer was simple, blunt, and calm. "The biggest mistake was marrying you and falling for you twice. Let's end this peacefully. I'm done."

She felt completely drained and didn't have the energy to argue. She placed the divorce papers on the table. "Sign them as soon as you can. Let me know when the certificate is ready."

As she turned away, Donovan grabbed her arm reflexively.

"What are you doing?" Giselle snapped. "Am I not being clear enough? I revised this agreement myself. I don't want a single thing from you! Let go!"

She pulled at her arm, but his grip was like iron. No matter how hard she struggled, she couldn't get free.

Donovan tightened his hold even further. His eyes were red, burning with an intensity that pinned her in place.

"I'll give you another chance," he said, sounding almost like he was doing her a favor. "Just apologize and admit you were wrong. Promise me you'll stay away from Gideon, and our marriage can go on—"

Before he could finish, Giselle slapped him across the face.

"Apologize? Admit I was wrong?" Giselle snapped.

"Giselle, don't push me over the edge," he growled through clenched teeth, feeling completely cornered by her and terrified he might lose control and strangle her the next second.

Giselle couldn't understand what this lunatic was thinking.

He was the one who gave her the silent treatment. He was the one who cheated. He was the one who dragged the family through a scandal. He was the one who filed for divorce.

And now, after she had finally decided to let them both go and sign the papers, he acted like the victim, making it seem as if everything had been her fault from the start.

"You don't have to live like this," Giselle said, her eyes locked on his. "After all this, I've done what I needed to. We owe each other nothing. Let's just go our separate ways."

She tugged at her arm with all her strength, desperate to break free.
