Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 516

Renee looked at them in disbelief. "An abortion? My daughter already had one miscarriage because of the Kane family. Her body suffered serious damage back then, and I will never let her go through that pain again."

She then switched to an emotional plea. "I've already lost my son, and now I only have this one daughter left. As her mother, I'll do whatever it takes to protect her."

Grace grew visibly frustrated. "Renee, what are you trying to say? Do you actually want Anne to keep this baby? Do you really think that's appropriate?"

Renee turned to Dorothea and firmly said, "I came here today to tell you how I think this should be handled. Anne is already pregnant, and she and Zach have real feelings for each other. They can get married and make things right. The child could be born into a proper family."

"That's out of the question!" Ethan said sharply, shutting her down at once.

Renee ignored him and focused on Dorothea, the real decision-maker in the room. "Mrs. Kane Senior, you're a woman of great virtue and experience. I'm sure you don't approve of taking a life so easily. Anne has already lost one child, and from what I've heard, Giselle once had an abortion for Donovan as well.

"If you think about it, your family has already lost two unborn children, not to mention the other women outside who might have gone through the same because of the Kane men. Mrs. Kane Senior, you must have noticed how much bad luck has fallen on your family this past year. Don't you think it might be some kind of payback?"

Dorothea froze at Renee's words.

After a long pause, she took a deep breath and turned to Grace. "This matter began with Zach. He's the one responsible. I think we should call him back and hear what he has to say for himself."

Grace's face tightened with visible displeasure. No matter how close she was to Renee, she still couldn't accept this situation. After all, Anne had once been engaged to Donovan, had even shared a bed with him, and now she was involved with her own son.

Grace had worked hard to play peacemaker between the two families for years, mostly because of her friendship with Renee, but that didn't mean she truly liked Anne.

Now, the idea of accepting Anne as her daughter-in-law made her skin crawl. She already had a long list of perfect candidates in mind for Zachary's future wife. There was no way she would ever let her precious son end up with Anne.
