The hatred Giselle felt for Donovan was entirely Gideon's own doing.
Not long after Giselle woke from her coma, she would sometimes whisper Donovan's name in her sleep. Torn over what to do, Gideon decided to lie to her.
He told her that while she lay unconscious in the hospital, suspended between life and death, the doctors had pronounced her chances of recovery hopeless. At that moment, Donovan, as her legal husband, had signed the papers to end her treatment and authorize the removal of her life support.
Just as the doctors were about to proceed, Gideon said he had stepped in to stop them. He told her he and Tony had secretly transferred her to another hospital and faked news of her death to keep her safe.
In her fragile, broken state, Giselle had believed every word.
After all, she had experienced firsthand how cold and heartless her husband could be. A man as powerful and ruthless as Donovan, who dominated the business world and had never hesitated to cheat or emotionally abuse her, would never accept a wife left in a vegetative state. That would have ruined the rest of his perfect life.
When she heard that he had signed the papers to give up on her, she wasn't even surprised.
Driven by that hatred, Giselle found a new reason to live. Her heartbreak and despair slowly hardened into strength. She wanted to heal, to become whole again, and one day stand before Donovan to return every ounce of pain he had once given her.
As her body gradually healed and her life began to regain a sense of normalcy, that burning determination slowly faded. She no longer sought revenge or confrontation. All she wanted was peace, a quiet life hidden from the world where he would never find her, and where the memory of him would eventually fade away.
Lost in thought, she finally turned to Gideon and asked, "Are you sure this place is completely safe? He won't find me here, will he?"
She took the initiative to excuse herself and return to her room to rest.
"Alright," Gideon replied, noticing that all the color had drained from her face.
Regret flickered in his eyes. He shouldn't have talked about such heavy things. Forcing a faint smile, he said something light to ease the tension and gently urged her to return to her room.
That night, a car slowly emerged from the shadows beneath the trees and came to a stop in front of the countryside villa. A moment later, someone stepped out of the vehicle.
