Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 553

Seeing how cold and dismissive Donovan was, refusing to even give her basic courtesy, Marselle finally lost her composure. Heat rushed to her head as she stepped in front of Donovan to block his way.

"Wait! I have a secret to tell you!"

Donovan shot her an impatient look, utterly unmoved. "Move."

"Giselle," she blurted, staring straight into his eyes. "Your dead wife—she's alive!"

Hearing that, Donovan froze.

For a few seconds, he stood motionless. Then, with a surge of irritation, he shoved her aside. His voice was low and sharp. "Don't ever let me hear you use my wife's name to start trouble again. Leave. Now."

He couldn't stand hearing anyone mention Giselle's name, whether it was a careless slip or a joke. To him, her name was off limits, an untouchable taboo that everyone around him had learned not to mention.

"Why would I lie?" Marselle snapped, seeing that he didn't believe her. With a thin smile, she pulled out her phone and opened the photo she had forwarded earlier. "Look for yourself. Isn't this your wife? Don't you recognize her?"

Donovan's sharp eyes flicked to the screen. The moment he saw the woman in the picture, his mind went blank, as if struck by lightning.

He snatched the phone from her hand and stared wide-eyed at the face he had seen in his dreams countless times.

"I—" Marselle hadn't expected this normally composed, distant man to lose control like that. Startled at first, she quickly steadied herself. "Why would I fake it? It's real. What would I gain by making this up?"

"Where did the photo come from? Who sent it to you? Say it!" he roared.

Even he could tell there was nothing doctored about the image. He had memorized every detail of Giselle's face through endless nights of longing. He would have recognized her even in the dark. Seeing her again, alive, left no doubt.

"Don't lose your mind just yet," Marselle said coldly, wrenching free of his grip and stepping back a few paces. "I can tell you, but it comes with conditions."
