Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 591

At that moment, Donovan couldn't help but recall how Giselle had sat beside him with one leg crossed over the other, eating tacos and mocking him, the last time he was injured and hospitalized. Back then, she had been arrogant and infuriating, yet also full of life. Even though her expression was soft and tender then, something about it made his chest tighten.

He silently vowed to find a way to help her get better. "Put the bowl down. I can feed myself," he said. "I don't want to tire you out."

"How could I tire myself out from feeding you? Am I seriously that frail in your eyes?"

"No." He gazed at her affectionately. "I merely wish you could go back to being your unfiltered, carefree self. From now on, let me look after you, not the other way around. All I want is for you to be happy. That matters more than anything you could ever do for me."

His tender gaze was too much for her heart to handle. Giselle took a deep breath and apologized, "I'm sorry."

For some reason, she couldn't stop apologizing to him. "I just feel like… ever since I came into your life, you've never had a moment of peace. I keep dragging you into all these mess—"

"If anything, I'm the one who should be apologizing to you." Donovan closed his eyes. Deep down, he knew that if he hadn't given her the cold shoulder, she wouldn't have gone through what she did. Consequently, he, too, had fallen into a hell from which he couldn't escape.

However, there was no point in dredging up the past now. God had given him numerous chances. From this moment on, all he wanted was to devote the rest of his life to making it up to her.
