Burn Me Once Burn With Me (Ruby Grayson) novel Chapter 415

Although several days had passed, the Grayson family’s scandal was still raging online, with no sign of clearing up. Hanley had chosen to dodge all media inquiries, which looked suspiciously like he was planning an early escape.

Ruby frowned, puzzled.

She could easily understand Hanley’s original plan—ditch Gennifer, who barely mattered to him, and walk away with his reputation intact. But what she couldn’t wrap her head around was why he’d suddenly changed course, pulling out all the stops to post her bail.

“What about Violet? Has anything happened with her?”

Ruby’s gaze sharpened as she turned to Sylas.

“I’ll need to check in with Fanny about that,” Sylas replied. “The moment I noticed something off with the Graysons, I called you first.”

Ruby pressed her lips together, asking no more. Her fingers were already flying over her phone, composing a message to Fanny.

But before she could send her first text, Fanny’s reply popped up:

Violet’s moved out of the hotel.

Ruby narrowed her eyes.

Both the Graysons’ strange behavior and Violet’s sudden departure seemed to signal that something was about to happen.

What were Hanley and the others up to?

Ruby, check the livestream—Gennifer just got released.

Another message from Fanny followed quickly.

Ruby handed Mira to Pamela and hurried to her study, switching on her computer. She didn’t even need to type in a search; the top trending headline, marked with a flaming-hot symbol, leapt out at her:

#Gennifer released from jail, claims online rumors are part of a conspiracy!

Ruby’s gaze lingered on the word “conspiracy.” She was already starting to put the pieces together.

She scrolled and clicked on the most-watched live broadcast. Gennifer’s face filled the screen.

Clearly, prison hadn’t been kind to her. Her once-glamorous features were now pale and colorless, and the lips that used to boast the latest designer lipstick were now cracked and dry.

Ruby frowned slightly and turned up the volume, recognizing Gennifer’s voice at once.

“Even if I don’t want to admit it, the truth is my mother died in that car crash over a decade ago! I have no idea who’s behind these fabricated rumors trying to frame me and my adoptive father! All I can say is, I’m deeply grateful to my adoptive parents for taking me in, and I hope whoever is targeting me will have the courage to confront me openly!”

Her eyes were bloodshot, her tone defiant and every word carefully enunciated.

Just watching her, you’d believe every word she said.

Frieda’s face remained tense through the entire broadcast, barely saying a word as Gennifer and Hanley took center stage.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please—let’s calm down!” Hanley said, pulling a microphone toward him.

He was dressed to the nines—a tailored suit, bow tie, and slicked-back hair—his entire bearing that of a composed, authoritative CEO.

His sharp, calculating eyes fixed on the camera.

“Violet was my wife’s savior, and she passed away more than a decade ago. My wife and I do not wish to hear any more rumors about her. The internet has already twisted her memory beyond recognition, so we’ve decided to hold a belated memorial service for Violet two days from now.”

His voice was heavy, but his words left the reporters stunned.

No one holds a funeral for someone who’s still alive. By announcing a memorial for Violet, Hanley was directly refuting the recent rumors that she’d survived.

“We’ll be inviting all major media outlets to attend. Please, help us clear our family’s name.”

Hanley laid down the microphone and bowed deeply to the cameras and the crowd.

The broadcast cut off.

Ruby stared at the computer screen, her hand unconsciously clenching into a fist.
